Andreas Angelidakis 06 / 03 / 03 – 10 / 05 / 03

Opening 06 / 03 / 03 9.00 pm

The Breeder projects is pleased to announce an exhibition featuring new works by architect Andreas Angelidakis.

The central theme of the exhibition is the universe that Angelidakis creates with his collection of Virtual spaces for the Internet. These spaces often take the form of animations, even going as far as suggesting Animated Buildings. Other times the spaces are interactive 3-D virtual online communities, computer generated physical objects that resemble architectural models or large hi resolution prints.

Angelidakis exhibits three virtual places: Mirrorsite, Neen World and FutureParis.

Mirrorsite is a place that exists in DVD animations, large prints specially commissioned for the Breeder magazine and the website www.mirrorsite.org . In this place a mirror building is in discussion with itself and two black trees.

Neen World is a (virtual) online community commissioned by the artist Miltos Manetas, to house the people (artists) of the new international art movement Neen, of which Angelidakis is one of the founding members. In this exhibition Angelidakis will show for the first time designs for the artists’ studios in 3 dimensional stereolithography “prints”, physical objects created by computers.

Future Paris is a place commissioned to Angelidakis for the 34th issue of Visionaire by Hedi Slimane, the design director of Dior Homme. Angelidakis’ design was chosen to represent the issue in Visionaires’ retrospective exhibition and subsequent publication “Dreaming in Print, 10 years of Visionaire”. The original large scale print will be included in this exhibition

Greek-Norwegian Andreas Angelidakis born in Greece and residing in New York, has become one of Contemporary Architectures’ most controversial young architects. His work, unlike that of many of his contemporaries focuses on what it actually means to live in a computer generated environment.
